S. DARKO Trailer Premiering at New York Comic-Con

So I didn't know they were making (or rather, had made) a sequel to the cult film "Donnie Darko". Maybe it's because I don't care that much about "Donnie Darko" so I would be indifferent to news of a sequel. That indifference is what carries me now as I report that the trailer for the sequel, "S. Darko", will be premieres at the New York Comic Con on Saturday, February 7th. They will screen the trailer and then will do a Q&A where I predict the most common question will be "Why?"

Also, here's a brief synopsis via Wikipedia, Lord and Master of All That is True:

"Samantha Darko (Daveigh Chase) and her rebellious best friend Corey Richardson (Briana Evigan) leave on a cross-country road trip to Los Angeles in an attempt to 'make it big'. Their dreams are cut short when their water pump blows outside of a tiny Utah town. Unable to leave until their car is fixed, Sam and Corey are stranded with the locals until their car's fixed. Sam and Corey are less than thrilled at the delay, and when an unexplained meteorite crash-lands in town that night, it soon becomes clear that there is much more at play than just a chance breakdown.

Plagued by bizarre hallucinatory dreams warning her of the universe's imminent end, as well as grief over her own loss of family, Sam must face the demons she had fled back at home. Aided by the unlikely town locals, Sam learns the true meaning of family and friendship, and in doing so, saves only herself."

You should know that with the exception of Chase, no one from the original film is involved with this sequel. That may have something to do with the finite ending and that this movie seems horrible. Folks who attend the screening of the trailer, let us know what you thought.

Fox Home Entertainment a preview presentation of S. Darko at the New York Comic-Con this weekend with the teaser trailer you can now watch below. The sequel to Donnie Dark, starring Daveigh Chase and Briana Evigan, hits DVD and Blu-Ray on April 28th. Meanwhile, Magnet Releasing has revealed the U.S. trailer for Eden Log. Ed Harcourt: S. Darko

Silver Nitrate Films' producer Ash R. Shah has confirmed to Upcoming Film Scores that Ed Harcourt, the British multi-instrumentalist/rock star whose albums include "Strangers" and "Beautiful Lie," has been hired to write the original score for S. Darko, the follow-up to the 2001 independent hit Donnie Darko (which featured a memorable score by Michael Andrews). Harcourt made his film scoring debut with last year's New York City Serenade (starring Freddie Prinze Jr. and Chris Klein). S. Darko is helmed by Chris Fisher, whose previous credits include Dirty and Rampage: The Hillside Strangler Murders. The sequel is set seven years after Donnie Darko and tells the story about Donnie's sister, who are plagued by bizarre visions. Daveigh Chase reprises her role as Samantha Darko, other cast members include Jackson Rathbone, Ed Westwick, Justin Chatwin, Briana Evigan, James Lafferty and Elizabeth Berkley. Film will come out next year.
